Forage & Feast: A Guided Walk into the World of Wild Mushrooms with Tim Lyddon
Saturday October 4th 2025
10pm - 1am
Step into the woods and uncover the fascinating world of fungi on this hands-on foraging experience at Nettlecombe Craft School. Led by an experienced guide, this 2.5-hour walk is designed to awaken your senses, deepen your connection to the natural world, and equip you with the knowledge to safely identify, prepare, and enjoy wild mushrooms and edible plants.
We’ll begin with a warm welcome, a safety briefing, and an overview of the session, including the legal and sustainable principles of responsible foraging. Then we’ll head into the surrounding landscape to search for seasonal mushrooms—interspersed with stops to explore the edible and medicinal plants we find along the way.
Back at the craft school, we’ll sort and safely identify our finds using trusted field guides. You’ll learn how to distinguish common edible species, avoid potential lookalikes, and discover the culinary and healing properties of the day’s harvest. To round off the session, we’ll prepare a simple wild taster so you can experience the flavours of the forest firsthand.
The course concludes with a relaxed Q&A—perfect for digging deeper into preservation techniques, cooking tips, and how to safely continue your foraging journey.
Whether you're a curious beginner or looking to deepen your knowledge, this friendly and informative session offers the perfect introduction to the world of wild food.
